    I couldn’t agree with you more. I don’t think many people understand the social learning environment of online learning. They think of it as an isolating experience within a Content Management System. I guess for many it can be that way, but it can be so much more. I have started using external blogs in my online classes. This really opens up the dialogue with all kinds of people. Also, it seems to empower students when they create their own blogs. It also helps students to keep in contact with each other and with me as their instructor.

    Have you checked into the iPad? I have noticed that when people use it, the device usually brings a crowd of folks around it. Each person touches the screen & it becomes a real world and virtual world group experience. It is quite something. I urge you to check it out.
